Native-American-inspired mural completed in Downtown Redding

REDDING, Calif. — The Native-American-inspired mural in downtown Redding has been completed.

Master Muralist Carl Avery was putting the finishing touches on the mural that covers the north side of the Cascade Theatre building, at the corner of Placer and Market streets.

The mural tells a story of the Wintu Tribe when the Downtown Redding area was known by the natives as "Elpom." The young girl symbolizes "hope;" the hummingbird, reconciliation, and the orange line traces the Wintu travels after the white man arrived.
