Astronomy in Native Cultures & How to Make Sun Daggers with NWA Space

THElogo.279F00.100p.png

This video by Dr. Katherine Auld of NWA Space shares just a few of the ways that Native American cultures display their connections to astronomy. We often think astronomy is all about Hubble Space Telescope images and ultra-modern technology forgetting that astronomy, at its core, is a connection to the sky.

The end of the video shares how you can create a calendar in your back yard with a stick, a few rocks, and a spot open to the Sun.

You can also watch this program without registering live on MONAH’s Facebook or on the Cultural Celebration webpage.
